WELCOME TO ACFBC
The
American Council For Board Certification (ACFBC) is a supervisory
organization which oversees various independent subspecialty boards and
the primary boards and fellowships offered by the Royal College of
Physicians & Surgeons of the United States. The ACFBC encourages
individual scholarship, training, and research by the recognition of
accomplished specialists. Qualifications for certification include
exemplary achievement, peer review of credentials, and oral/written
examinations. All Board Certification is granted for 2 years.
Recertification requires Continuing Medical Education credits acceptable
to the ACFBC and a recredentialling fee of $1,000.00.
The stated
purposes of ACFBC are:

to approve and represent societies,
academies, colleges, and all organizations that grant board
certification and/or fellowship to their members |

2. |
to encourage individual scholarship,
quality training, and research |
|
3. |
to support member organizations which
provide the public with experts who have attained board
certification and/or fellowship in various fields of endeavor |
|
4. |
to insure that the qualifications for
board certification and/or fellowship are: exemplary achievement,
peer recognition, and oral/written examination |
|
5. |
to prevent race, creed, color, age,
handicap, or gender from being considered in the award of board
certification and/or fellowship |
|
6. |
to promote ethical and high
professional standards in each member organization of the Council |
|
7. |
to perform on-site evaluation and
review of the standards of board certification and/or fellowship at
the headquarters of each member organization |
|
8. |
to register the name of each member
organization with the federal government |
|
9. |
to form a political action committee
to protect and defend the rights of individuals who have
legitimately earned board certification and/or fellowship |
|
10. |
to
further the goals of the Council by creating an effective means of
communication between the member societies, academies, and colleges |
